Visual quality control
On assignment from Statkraft Energi AS, Kalkulo has developed a software tool for
quality control of measured meteorological data. Statkraft suggested a way to
improve on the way they carry out the quality control today.
The key component of this application is that data is presented in terms of a
color-coded grid instead of simply as numbers in a table. Such grids are computed by
surface interpolation and visualized on a map. In this way, faulty values stand out
clearly from correct ones since they are drawn in different colors. Because the grid
is displayed on map, it is easy to compare data points with their neighbors.
