Professor Yaroslav D. Sergeyev from University of Calabria will visit Simula and give a talk on his invention - the Infinity Computer that is able to execute numerical calculations not only with finite but also with infinite and infinitesimal numbers. Sergeyev has been awarded a number of national and international awards including the Pythagoras International Prize in Mathematics, Lagrange Lecture in Turin, and the MAIK prize for the best scientific book published in Russian. The talk will be held in "Storstua" at Simula Research Laboratories, April 24 at 10:15.

Professor Scott Baden (UCSD) is visiting Simula this week. On Thursday the 8th of September he will give a talk entitled "Domain Specific Translation: Taking Charge of Performance Programming". In this talk, Prof. Baden will give an overview of several ongoing projects at his group at UCSD, on source-to-soruce translation, for the purpose of achieving high-performance numerical computations on the latest CPU/GPU hardware.
