Professor Magne Jørgensen to be part of national Digitisation Council

Simula researcher Magne Jørgensen is a member of the new council, which will contribute to the quality of government funded ICT projects from January 1st, 2016.

The Norwegian government is as of January 1st, 2016 establishing a national Digitisation Council that will provide advice and quality assurance for government funded ICT projects.

“I am looking forward to contributing to the Council with research-based knowledge. Our goal is to ensure the success of more public IT-projects, to ensure that they stay within their budget limits, and to improve the management of public digitisation. I also hope that our work can provide data for Simula’s Software Engineering Department and their research on managing IT projects”, says Professor Jørgensen.

The Minister for Local Government and Modernisation, Jan Tore Sanner, states in a government issued news bulletin: “The proper use of technology ensures less administration and better services. It is important that the different government agencies can learn from each other’s failures and successes, and this is where the Digitisation Council comes in.

The Council will advise projects between ten and 750 MNOK, and it will primarily evaluate risks, project plans and the different phases for the projects in question in order to minimise financial loss and maximise the output of each project.
