The Norwegian Tax Department is maintaining a system for the tax
accounting in Norway, handling yearly tax revenues of approximately 500
Billion NOK. The system, called SOFIE, has evolved over the past 10
years
to provide dependable, automated, efficient and integrated services to
the
430 tax municipalities and more than 3000 users (e.g., taxation
officers).
The development project involves more than 90 employees and consultants.
The system has grown to a size and complexity where the current, manual
testing processes are no longer deemed to be adequate or cost-effective.
The ATOS project will implement automated test solutions for Sofie, and
evaluate the resulting cost-effectiveness and practicality of the
solutions. The project is financed by the tax department and has a
duration from 2010-2015. Our aim is to automate functional testing at
both
module and system levels, as well as providing support for automated
regression testing. We expect that a wide range of different black-box
techniques will be implemented and evaluated throughout the project
lifespan, including (combinations of) capture-replay of database
transactions, category-partition, pairwise testing, adaptive random
testing and model-based testing.
