PostDoc position in NFR StorIKT project Verdione

Verdione is 4 year research project funded by the Norwegian research council whose main application is the World Opera. The ultimate goal is for users, including musicians, actors, singers and spectators, to become immersed in a virtual reality that includes their local environment, and where users' arbitrary actions can be disseminated to their remote communication partners. A qualified applicant is a researcher in multimedia systems and networking support who holds a PhD degree and will assume a leading role in the project.

Verdione is 4 year research project funded by the Norwegian research council. The project has several Norwegian and international cooperation partners, including Simula, University of Tromsø, University of Oslo, University College Tromsø, Telenor R&I and LIVIDI, and through the World Opera consortium, McGill University, Stanford University, New York University, and the opera institutions (companies/academies) in Montreal, New York, San Francisco, Malmø, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Milano.

Verdione targets cooperative applications that merge virtual elements into the real world. The main application example is the World Opera. The ultimate goal is for users, including musicians, actors, singers and spectators, to become immersed in a virtual reality that includes their local environment, and where users' arbitrary actions can be disseminated to their remote communication partners.

An applicant should hold a doctorate in Computer Science or a related field, or have submitted a thesis for defense. The applicant should have experience in multimedia systems and networking research and aim at continuing research in this field. The topics should be in line with RELAY group's goals. The applicant must have the people skills that are required to organize and coordinate activities in a large international project comprising computer science researchers and artists, and the interest to assume a leading role in the Verdione project.
