Simula Publication GuidelinesAs of 1 January, 2007, Simula Research Laboratory has implemented new guidelines to cover authorship, authenticity of research and confidentiality. The purpose of the guidelines is to ensure a high ethical standard at Simula Research Laboratory regarding these aspects of our research. The complete guidelines can be found here. The guidelines cover all employees at Simula Research Laboratory. Please be assured that we have no impression of any wrongdoings by any employee. The guidelines are aimed at avoiding unethical behaviour in the future. Note also that it is not the purpose to develop a full set of guidelines for scientific publishing. A FAQ about the guidelines can be found here. All scientific staff at Simula are expected to familiarize themselves with the guidelines and adhere to them in their research. The procedure for publishing a manuscript at Simula is as follows: When a new manuscript is submitted for review, the author from Simula who is responsible for the paper registers it in our publication database. At this stage, the manuscript is only visible in the system to the authors themselves. The system then generates an email, which is sent to all Simula employees that are authors of the manuscript. This mail informs them about the guidelines, and requests that they confirm that the manuscript in question adheres to them. The responsible author may also choose to request the confirmation from external authors, but this is not mandatory. When all the required authors have confirmed that the manuscript adheres to the guidelines, the author from Simula who is responsible for the paper can make it publicly visible in the publication database. Questions about the publication database can be sent to support@simula.no. |
