CBC Talk on a Human Atrial Myocyte Model with an Atria-specific Description of Intracellular Calcium Dynamics - November 9, 2010

Dr. Jussi T. Koivumäki is visiting us next Tuesday as a prospective post-doc in CaMo. As part of his visit he will give a talk about his research on a human atrial myocyte model that extends the works of Courtemanche et al. and Nygren et al. with an atria-specific description of intracellular calcium dynamics.

Dr. Jussi T. Koivumäki, is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the A. I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences, University of Eastern Finland, where he does research on cardiac ionic models. Recently, he's been working on a human atrial myocyte model that extends the works of Courtemanche et al. and Nygren et al. with an atria-specific description of intracellular calcium dynamics.

He is visiting us as a potential new postdoc in the group starting next year (he has applied for national-level Finnish postdoctoral fellowships to work abroad, and we have indicated our support and assisted with the proposal). During the day he will be giving a talk concerning his own research, and he would like to have a one-on-one with those interested in telling him a bit about our own research. At the end of the day there will be a CaMo dinner at 18.30 at the restaurant Arakataka ( www.arakataka.no ). Transport from Simula will be arranged.
