Visualization of scientific data

Visualize sand moving in turbulent water flow

In many complex transient fluid flow systems, we often study many different physical quantities that evolve simultaneously. Oil and water mixes, and blood flow are but two examples of this. Another example is a turbulent particle-laden fluid flow. The satisfactory visualization of complex data is a big challenge in both engineering and science.

Goal

The aim of this project is to use data from in-house fluid solvers and visualize some or all of the fields therein. Specifically, data describing the evolution of a sand-laden fluid flow.

What you will learn

You will learn how to visualize complex scientific data, a very important aspect of computer simulations.

Requirements

Knowledge of python/c++ .
Some experience in basic visualization techniques is preferable, but not necessary.
