Director of Basic Research
Basic Research
Basic Research organises the research activities at Simula. Our aim is to conduct long-term basic research with a clear view to application of the research results. The projects in Basic Research focus on fundamental and complex challenges that are important for society at large.
Basic Research is divided into several research groups within the areas of networks and distributed systems, scientific computing and software engineering. The research groups, listed in the menu at the right, constitute the core of the activity at Simula Research Laboratory.
The mission of Basic Research
- Perform world class long-term research within the selected areas
- Educate PhD students and postdoctoral fellows in collaboration with Research Education
- Take necessary and adequate steps to promote the application of research results in collaboration with Research Applications
Publications
Simula has implemented a set of publication guidelines based on the Vancouver Convention, which are enforced for all publications available in our online database.
New organization in January 2010
In January 2010, Basic Research was reorganized in ten new research groups. The unit was earlier organized in three departments, one for each of the main areas of research in Simula. The old department pages are still available: Networks and distributed systems, Scientific computing, Software engineering.
